5 things that made me happy today

1. Story alerts now show up in my Google reader. AO3 Fandom subscriptions for the win!

2. Inception Big Bang! I haven't read all of the posted stories (and there's some that I won't), but I've already found some stuff I liked. Especially OT3! I love moresomes. (I might post more about that later.)

3. I want to talk fandom again! I'm leaving comments, even. *pats self on back*

4. In that vein: I might have a new fandom? It's "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". I read the book ages ago and can't get enough of the movie. (ALL THE OSCARS for Gary Oldman! Or, well, the one. *g*) I've read almost everything on the AO3 (which isn't much yet), reread the book and puzzled over some of the changes (Hungary instead of Czechoslovakia? Istanbul instead of Hong Kong?) and realized that I bought the audio book of "Smiley's People in 2007. I can't tell yet if I want a fandom or just the source, but it's nice to be passionate about new(ish) things.

5. Dreamwidth. Today and most days. *g*



1. We finally got some winter weather. (Healthwise at the worst possible moment, but what can you do.) It's really cold, the sun is shining and there's a little snow.

2a. It's the weekend! Two days until I have to work again.
2b. I have to work again! I've been home sick for almost the whole week, and it's time to go back. *g*

3. My contact lenses are already at the Packstation, I just have to pick them up. I only ordered them Thursday and didn't expect them before next week.

4. I decluttered a whole box of stuff (mostly paper clutter), and I threw away and filed some things and made a (smaller) decorations box and now the whole box is empty! That's a real accomplishment for me.

5. In the process, I found nice stuff I wanted to keep, so I had a look through my memories shoebox, too; threw some stuff there away, too. So many good memories! "Looking through the box" now is one of my anti-depression tools again.

In other news: I joined Chicon so that I can vote for the Hugos, and nominations are open! Any tips on what I should read / nominate? I have to check which of N. K. Jemisin's books might be eligible, and I see that she's asking people to vote for her editor, which I will do because I have no ideas about editors at all, but what else?
