I seem to have a new fandom. Oops?

Right. The depression seems to be lifting. Hopefully.
I'm really bad at recognizing this. I don't even know I'm depressed until after I don't answer the phone / fail at keeping appointments / the dishes pile up / ... For the longest time I didn't even believe that I actually get depressed, because I don't feel that bad - so it can't be "real" depression, right? Until I get to the outside consequences, which I can ignore for an astonishing long time, too...
The last week was really bad. I started it off with not going to sleep sunday night and only getting three hours or so, and it slid down from there. There's still shopping from last saturday standing around in the kitchen. I can't navigate my room because of everything on the floor. I missed two evening classes and one gym class. At least I did go to work every day.
But! Yesterday I did a lot of dishes, cleaned the bathroom and made applesauce and banana bread. Progress!
Right now I'm doing laundry, and I'm in my running clothes and psyching myself up for the first run of the year. Afterwards I'll do some motivational reading on
bitesizedcleaning (that comm is really good for me! Have a look if you want help or just company in getting the hang of cleaning / keeping things running!) and plan the rest of the day.
Fannish news: I've been reading LotR fic, rereading the book and watching the movies (in that order. *g*) I blame
ratcreature. I read maybe two fics when the movies came out, so it's all new to me! It's also the first time I start in on a fandom via delicious, which is actually pretty cool. Of course it's probably pretty dead by now, but at least I can still find a lot of fic.
What's weird: I don't know what I want in this fandom yet. Usually I imprint on a genre / pairing early on, read everything there is and afterward expand into other stuff. But in LotR I read long gen fic, but then came upon those loooong elfsex pwps and liked at least some of them, too, then Legolas/Gimli, then the Boromir-Survives genre, then.... and I can't tell which I like best. I read book!verse and movie!verse. (I didn't read the RPF yet because I'm afraid I might like that, too, and I don't need another new fandom now.) I might be most impressed by fic quality here! Which is a first for me... *g*
So: Anyone got LotR recs? Fic, meta, vids, any genre? What did you like?

Date: 2011-02-28 09:16 pm (UTC)The fandom is in limbo right now, but filming on The Hobbit is due to begin soonish, and there's starting to be rumblings of interest on TheOneRing.net as photos and press conferences and news items trickle out. I'm really looking forward to the new pair of movies -- quite aside from trusting Peter Jackson to do something beautiful with it, Sherlock fandom has primed me to view Martin Freeman's work fondly.

Date: 2011-03-06 06:45 pm (UTC)And yay, threesome fic! That's something I definitely like in this fandom. *makes note*
Browsing the AO3 by fandom and then sorting by word count (which is my standard method) gets you some great and some ... interesting results in LotR. *g*
